Disney UK has announced that the much anticipated Black Widow movie’s runtime to be 133 minutes (2hours and 13 minutes) alongside a speculated release date of 7th of May, 2021, and fans are in a frenzy!
The initial excitement that accompanied the announcement of a full length Black Widow movie as part of phase 4 of the Disney/Marvel Cinematic Universe unfortunately died down to sparks as the news of postponement keeps popping up due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This is exciting news for both comic books and movie lovers. A runtime of 133 minutes provides enough time for an elaborate and detailed backstory of Natasha Romanov, who is portrayed by Scarlett Johansson, before she joined the Avengers.
Her history is shaded in mystery and speculation in the comics and especially in the movies (which is typical for a spy) in which she and Hawkeye refer to something that happened in Budapest that no one else knows about except them.
This movie is going to be the longest ever debut movie for any Marvel character, only exceeded by Avengers: Infinity War which was two and a half hours long and Avenger: Endgame which was over 3 hours long.
“Black Widow” is expected to be a blockbuster as the love for comic based movies are at an all-time high, grossing incredible numbers at the box-office. Its release date has been postponed multiple times as Disney tried to avoid releasing it on their streaming platform, Disney+ like they have for some other movies that were expected to be blockbuster.
With hopes that the world goes back to normalcy sooner than later all we can do is wait patiently and expect to find out what really happened in Budapest!
