What goes around comes around
As a Chelsea player, Lampard’s attitude towards ex-manager André Villas-Boas was not all rosy and cozy, especially considering Lampard’s comment about whether the Chelsea job came too early for the Portuguese. Could we say the same for Lamps? Creatives need to understand the need to always stay grounded and maintain a high-level of decorum by reciprocating respect to co-workers, whether they are subordinates or bosses. Situations change real fast; tomorrow is pregnant!
Grow at your pace
As a creative that is just finding his feet, you should be wary of taking highly demanding clients that can crush your barely mature ego. Of course, there are always exceptions to the rule. However, what are the odds that you will be the exception to that rule. As a newbie in the creative world, you need an environment that allows you to thrive and build your confidence in your abilities. The last thing you need is an environment where multiple Champions League-winning coaches were sacked without a second thought. A place where a World Cup-winning coach was booted out is no place to patiently build a creative’s confidence. A fast-paced environment where the stakes are really high could do more harm than good to your career. Choose wisely.
Respect industry hierarchy
As talented as you are, experience is something you initially lack at the start of your career. You don’t learn it theoretically but practically. Calm down and respect the ones that were there before you. Lampard’s spat with Mourinho and Jurgen Klopp comes to mind here. Having had some of the best moments of his playing career under Mourinho, Lampard pulled no punches when he railed into Mourinho during a touchline feud. Jurgen Klopp, another experienced coach, was on the receiving end of Lampard’s sharp tongue when the Englishman implored the German coach to not let a first league triumph in two decades get to his head. Sadly, Lampard won’t get the chance to go toe to toe with these managerial greats anytime soon.
