It’s that time of the year again, the season of love, when people who deeply care about each other sit themselves down to watch movies. Not just any kind of movies, the kind that gets them in the feels, and occasionally leads to a baby being born 9 months after.
Here’s a list of movies you lovebirds should watch, and single people should probably stay away from leat they start getting the urge to call up their exes. Let’s get started!

  1. Titanic

This movie needs no introduction, it is one of the greatest romance movies of all time. I’ve seen it, you’ve seen it, and there’s no better time to see again than now.
The 1998 movie famously stars Leonardo di Caprio and Kate winslet in it’s lead roles, and in attestation to the power of this movie, the duo have come to share a powerful bond since their starring roles as the tragic lovestruck couple Jack and Rose. Intense is an understatement. Get those tissues ready.

  1. The Notebook

This deeply passionate movie tells of the difficulties of love when economic class disparity rears its ugly head.
Starring Ryan Gosling,Racheal McAdams, and James Garner, you’ve simply got to see this again.

  1. Shape of Water

This controversial multi award-winning movie makes it into our list, despite just how radical it is. Many debates have been had about where the lines of social acceptability of love are drawn. This movie challenges even the most basic assumptions, and gives a weird new interpretation to the expression “sleep with the fish”.
It stars Sally Hawkins, Michael Shannon, Richard Jenkins, Doug Jones, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Octavia Spencer.

  1. Love and Basketball

Love and sports; the best love story ever, right?
Starring Omar Epps, Sanaa Lathan, Dennis Haysbert and Alfre Woodard, this year 2000 movie produced by Spike Lee tells a beautiful story of growth, discovery, and the dangers of distance.
A blend of sport and romance can never go wrong.

  1. Crazy Rich Asians

This is one movie you definitely want to check out if you haven’t before.
It has EVERYTHING. Culture clash? Check. Comedy? Check. Rich dude disguising as not so rich dude? Check again.

Starring Randall Park and Ali Wong, Always be my Maybe is a deeply emotional story that explores the strains of time and distance on youthful love.

  1. Why did I get Married?

Why should you watch this movie? Because it will set your heart on fire, that’s why. Tyler Perry, Janet Jackson and Jill Scott all pull off performances worthy of one of the most beautiful black romance movies in recent history.

  1. Love by the 10th Date

A story of black women professionals who are digging up those feels in us in those daring heels? Yaas!
Love by the 10th Date stars Megan Good, Kelly Rowland, Kelee Stewart, Keri Hilson.

  1. Plus One

What happens when fate binds two romantically lost individuals together on an hilarious journey of celebrating other people’s loves? Plus One is a MUST WATCH, and I really mean that. Which is why I put it in all caps.
It stars Maya Erksine, Jack Quaid.
